First Glimpse: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Release Date: August 26, 2011

Directed by Troy Nixey

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is the remake of an early ‘70s made-for-TV horror flick about a girl who moves in with her father and is terrorized by unknown creatures. The original has gained near legendary status on the cult circuit, despite airing originally as a two part ABC special.

The film is well cast starring Katie Holmes (Thank You for Smoking) and Guy Pierce (Momento). In addition to this, the screenplay was written by Guillermo del Toro.

From what we’ve seen thus far, this film looks to be quite terrifying and will more than likely compete with James Wan’s Insidious for the year’s top horror film.
